That’s why we bring you this incredible Mediterranean motorhome route that will take you from Camping Villamar to the magnificent city of Nimes in France. Get your pen and notebook ready!
Day 1: Alicante, España
Set course for Alicante from Camping Villamar to start your exciting motorhome trip in this sunny city. Climb up to the majestic Santa Barbara Castle, from where you can enjoy panoramic views of the city and the sea. Descend through the narrow streets of the old town, exploring the charming Explanada de España, with its distinctive mosaic design. Take the opportunity to savour delicious Mediterranean cuisine at one of the many waterfront restaurants.
Day 2-3: Valencia, España
After a short trip by motorhome, arrive in Valencia. Immerse yourself in the futuristic City of Arts and Sciences, a unique architectural complex. Enjoy the magic of the Oceanogràfic, Europe’s largest aquarium, where you’ll find yourself surrounded by marine life in its habitat. Stroll through the beautiful Turia Garden, a former riverbed converted into a lush urban park, and rent bikes to explore its twisting paths. Don’t forget to sample authentic Valencian paella, which is a delight for the senses.
Day 4-5: Tarragona, España
Your next destination is the historical Tarragona. Here, Roman remains greet you, especially in the Amphitheatre and the Roman Circus, witnesses to a glorious past. Stroll the cobbled streets of the old town and admire the imposing Tarragona Cathedral. Enjoy the fusion of history and modernity that this coastal city has to offer.
Day 6-7: Barcelona, España
The bustling city of Barcelona awaits you. Marvel at Antoni Gaudí’s architectural masterpieces, such as the monumental La Sagrada Familia and the extravagant Park Güell. Immerse yourself in the life of the Gothic Quarter, where cobbled streets tell ancient stories, and don’t miss the Picasso Museum for a dose of art. Don’t forget to relax on Barceloneta beach, enjoying the sun and sea breeze.
Day 8-10: Costa Brava, España
Head for the picturesque Costa Brava. In Figueres, visit the Dalí Museum, dedicated to the famous surrealist artist Salvador Dalí. Explore Cadaqués, a picturesque fishing village that inspired Dalí and other artists. Dive into the crystal-clear waters of Begur’s beaches and coves, and climb the castle for panoramic views of the coastline.
Day 11-12: Perpiñán, Francia
After crossing the border, arrive in Perpignan. Explore the Palace of the Kings of Majorca, an imposing fortified castle with beautiful gardens. Stroll through the narrow streets of the old town and savour the unique fusion of French Catalan cuisine in local restaurants.
Day 13-14: Carcasona, Francia
Continue to Carcassonne, where you will be greeted by the impressive medieval ramparts and the iconic Carcassonne Castle. Walk through the cobbled streets, discover the Basilica of Saint-Nazaire with its impressive stained glass window and soak up the atmosphere of the Middle Ages.
Day 15-17: Montpellier, Francia
Continue to Montpellier, a vibrant university city with a unique blend of history and modernity. The Place de la Comédie is a focal point, surrounded by impressive buildings. Explore the Musée Fabre, which houses a rich art collection, and then head to nearby beaches, such as Palavas-les-Flots, for a well-deserved break by the sea.
Day 18-19: Marsella, Francia
Your next stop is Marseille, a seaside city full of Mediterranean charm. Explore the lively Vieux-Port, where fishing boats coexist with elegant yachts. Climb the Basilica of Notre-Dame de la Garde for panoramic views of the city and the sea. Discover the authentic atmosphere of the city in the picturesque neighbourhood of Le Panier.
Day 20-21: Costa Azul, Francia
Make the most of your time on the famous Côte d’Azur. Spend time on the Promenade des Anglais beach in Nice, where you can enjoy the sun and the Mediterranean Sea. If the dates coincide, be part of the glamour of the Cannes Film Festival. Don’t miss the chance to explore the luxurious Monte Carlo Casino in Monaco.
Day 22-23: Aix-en-Provence, Francia
Driving through the Provençal countryside, you arrive in Aix-en-Provence. Walk along the Cours Mirabeau, a tree-shaded avenue lined with fountains. Explore the Saint-Sauveur cathedral and visit the Granet Museum, where you will find works by famous artists. Don’t miss the opportunity to savour the delicious Provençal gastronomy.
Day 24-25: Aviñón, Francia
Arrive in Avignon, famous for its Palace of the Popes. Explore this imposing palace and cross the famous Avignon Bridge. Stroll through the narrow streets of the old town, full of medieval charm, and visit the lively local markets.
Day 26: Nimes, Francia
Head to Nîmes, where the impressive Nîmes Amphitheatre awaits you, a Roman structure that will transport you back in time. Also, explore the Fountain Gardens and admire the harmony of the Roman temple Maison Carrée.
Day 27: Back to Alicante, España
On your last day of the trip, you’ll head back to Alicante, taking the opportunity to make stops along the way according to your preferences and the places that have caught your attention during your adventure.
