Hung Yi, <\/strong>one of the most renowned artists of the oriental world, <\/strong>lands in Benidorm with an exhibition of fourteen impressive sculptures, which are inspired by Taiwanese culture. Don’t miss below all the curiosities of the event!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Street art in Benidorm<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Hung Yi’s exhibition brings art to the streets of Benidorm this summer. Four of the pieces were displayed in the Plaza de la Hispanidad, two in Calle Gambo, six in the Avenida del Mediterr\u00e1neo and two more in the Plaza de Sus Majestades los Reyes de Espa\u00f1a, on the esplanade of the Town Hall. Since mid-June, one of the most photographed pieces, representing two swans, has been on display in the Paseo de Poniente.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Street exhibitions are a great alternative for leisure and culture<\/strong> adapted to the difficulties that COVID-19 has brought to this sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hung Galaxy’ travels back in time through a tribute to Taiwanese tradition<\/strong> and its most symbolic animals. It is a monumental collection of pandas, rhinoceroses, swans, ducks, in colours full of life <\/strong>and rigorous drawings of oriental tradition, full of details. His work is inspired by his environment and life experiences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The artist uses mainly primary colours, which gives the statues a very special light and brightness. His works are bold and lively, giving the urban scene a very warm and special energy that the public can admire as they stroll around Benidorm. Each sculpture, made from a steel frame and plates, is covered in clay with a layer of printing, painting, glazing and firing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It’s a great opportunity to enjoy a world-class international artist<\/strong> in Benidorm, and even more so in an open-air exhibition. Some of these spectacular statues weigh over a thousand kilos and are more than six metres high. Without a doubt, they are particularly complex works due to their installation and transport.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hung Yi, do you know who he is?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Hung Yi, born in Taiwan in 1970, reveals in his work a surrealist style influenced by Spanish artists. These artists include Dal\u00ed, Picasso and Mir\u00f3.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The artist has exhibited in a multitude of museums and art galleries around the world, as well as in urban art scenes in major cities such as San Francisco, Washington D.C., New York, Tokyo, and Shanghai.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hung Yi, a self-taught artist, is one of the most prestigious artists in the East. In recent years, he has been very prolific in the world of urban art. During his first period, the artist mainly produced works combining cartoons and sketches. Later, he continued to express himself through large graphic artworks, reflecting Taiwanese urban life in great colour.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since 2000, he has been working on his street art sculptures. Always under the theme of animals with oriental symbolism<\/strong>, creating beautiful works of art inspired by Taiwanese culture or everyday life in bright colours seen in traditional Taiwanese patterns.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
